Exciting Recap from Black Hat and DEFCON 2024!

We're thrilled to share that our  team had an incredible week at Black Hat and DEFCON 2024! Some of the key moments include:

🔍 Strategic Government, Innovators, Investors, CISOs, and Executives Gathering: We were delighted to host a roundtable discussion series, gathering top minds in government, innovation, and cybersecurity. Held during the Black Hat conference, this series provided critical insights on policy efforts impacting our community, future product directions, and facilitated engagement with governments and policymakers. Topics included national security, product security, AI security, supply chain, federal agencies’ requirements, data security, critical infrastructure security, and more. Thanks for joining us!

🎤 Engagements at Black Hat and DEFCON:

Our CEO, Dr. Amit Elazari, participated in multiple high-impact events:

  • Black Hat Fireside Breakfast with the CTO of the CIA: OpenPolicy was honored to host a special fireside talk featuring Mr. Nand Mulchandani, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), on "Intelligence and Warfare in the Age of AI." The discussion was moderated by Dr. Amit Elazari, CEO and Co-Founder of OpenPolicy, and co-hosted by NightDragon and NYSE. This exclusive event was by invitation only.
  • Black Hat CISO Summit: Dr. Elazari contributed to a discussion on navigating the SEC's new Rule on cybersecurity disclosures and future advocacy for CISO and cybersecurity governance. The session explored the role of the CISO Amicus Brief effort (co-led with Cooley) in supporting the dismissal of much of the SEC case against SolarWinds and Tim Brown. The conversation also looked ahead to what's next on the policy and regulatory agenda. Moderated by Chenxi Wang, Dr. Elazari was joined by Jennifer Lee, partner at Jenner & Block, and Tracy Schloss Combs from GT San Francisco, both former SEC enforcement lawyers. The session was held under Chatham House rules, offering critical insights for the cybersecurity community.
  • Black Hat Briefings: Dr. Elazari moderated a panel on "National Policy and Security: Impact of Emerging Technology and Threats," alongside world leading cyber policy expert Jason Healey, the CIA CTO, Nand Mulchandani, ENISA’s COO and CISO Hans de Vries, ONCD’s Lauryn Williams, and Daniel Wallance.
  • DEFCON : Dr. Elazari was thrilled to return to DEFCON to speak on the topic "Hacking Policy and Policy Hacking - A Red-Teamer Hacker Guide to the Universe of Cyber Policy." This engaging talk explored the intersection of cybersecurity and policy, providing valuable insights for both hackers and policymakers at the Red-Team villag

🤝 Government-Industry Reception: We wrapped up with an invite-only reception, bringing together top minds from government and industry to discuss the future of cybersecurity policy. Thank you to our partners at Elastic, The OutPost and Bruno.io for their support!

Best part of Black Hat and DEFCON connecting with all existing and future partners and customers! Thank you to everyone who connected with us! Whether you attended one of our sessions or joined us for a conversation, we appreciate your engagement and look forward to continuing these important discussions.
